Michael S. Sherrill received a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology in 1982. He graduated from the University of Iowa School of Law in 1984. He is licensed as an attorney in Minnesota and is registered to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office as a patent attorney. He is also licensed to practice before the United States Court for the District of Minnesota, United States Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit, and United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit.
Following graduation from law school, Mike practiced law with firms in Downtown Minneapolis. Following his natural entrepreneurial bent, in 1996 Mike founded Sherrill Law Offices. Mike is experienced in numerous areas of intellectual property law including assessing the patentability of new concepts; evaluating the availability of trademarks; procuring patent, trademark and copyright protection; identifying and protecting trade secrets; evaluating patent infringement; assessing patent validity; conducting trademark opposition and cancellation proceedings; auditing intellectual property assets; and development, maintenance and enforcement of a strong intellectual property portfolio. Mike also advises international clients in all matters of trademark and patent protection.
Mike has extensive patent experience in several technical areas including chemical, biochemical and mechanical products and processes.
Iza Gonzalez graduated with a Bachelor degree in Advertising from Universidad Autonoma de Centro América in Costa Rica. Iza is a legal assistant with more than 10 years of experience on Intellectual Property. She is also fluent in Spanish.
Jenny Klausner-Shallman graduated in 2018 with a Paralegal Certificate and Associate of Science Degree from North Hennepin Community College, an American Bar Association approved program. Jenny is a member of the Minnesota Paralegal Association and Phi Theta Kappa, and was a member of the Honor Program during her time at NHCC.
